Description

Glassboro Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates in the capacity of a Groundskeeper. This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

 

TITLE:                          Groundskeeper

 

QUALIFICATIONS:      High School diploma. Fingerprint and background clearance. Experience with computers; email and work order systems. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Effective communication skills and ability to understand and follow school policies.  Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently. Knowledge of hand and power tools. Ability to work alone and stay on task. Ability to lift up to 50lbs, exert 50lbs-60lbs of force, and push, pull or move objects.

 

REPORTS TO:              Buildings and Grounds Supervisor

 

JOB GOAL/MAJOR FUNCTIONS

 

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining clean and beautiful grounds for school property.

 

  1. Performs the planting, trimming, watering, fertilizing, and care of the lawn.
  1. Responsible for routine maintenance on the drip system, sprinkler system, and irrigation time clocks.
  1. Repair timers, control valves, sprinkler heads, pumps, etc.
  1. Operate lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmer, blowers, tractors with their attachments, and pull trailers.
  1. Taking care of the lining sports field for football, baseball, and soccer.
  1. Carrying out of daily and long-range work orders, of the work assigned.
  1. Clean and remove debris, litter, and snow from all campus walks, including sidewalks roads, and driveways. Weeding and cultivating of all shrubs and trees.
  1. Spreads salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
  1. Empty campus waste and receptables.
  1. Prepare flower beds for growing annuals.
  1. Plants grass, flowers, trees, shrubs.
  1. Clean and maintain all gardens.
  1. Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

This is a twelve (12) month position with salary and contract terms to be negotiated with the Superintendent and the Board of Education.

 

EVALUATION:

 

Performance in this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
